The Wedge Park Disc Golf Course In Reno, NV

Nestled in the heart of Reno, The Wedge Park Disc Golf Course never fails to know what makes disc golf such a thrilling sport. Established in 2016, the Wedge Park Course offers a unique blend of shorter holes and beautiful landscapes in a 9-hole layout.

Course Features

Featuring rubber tees and DISCatcher Pro (28 chains) Targets, this course might be small, but don’t let that fool you. Here are some of its distinctive features:

  • Clear signages: Well, mostly. There are a couple of spots where directions aren’t as clear, so it’s worth keeping a sharp eye out to stay on track.
  • Variety of levels: Whether you’re just starting or have been at it for a while, this course is perfect for everyone. There are lots of short easy throwing putter shot holes if you are an intermediate player.
  • Interesting Terrain: Just a heads up, the course is not stroller-friendly due to lots of rocks and rough terrain. But this otherwise makes for a challenging, fun play.

Playing Experience

Playing at The Wedge Park was fun and challenging in equal measure. Every hole feels like a new adventure, especially if you’re dodging red ant hills as I did on a few occasions! It’s definitely worth checking your discs as you pick them up.

For beginners trying to learn the game, this is an ideal course. I don’t have the arm speed yet to bomb disks 350+, but this course, I can hit par pretty consistently. One key factor you’ll want to keep in mind is the ravine that occasionally comes into play. Successfully navigating this will be key to a good score.

Unpredictables

One thing I learned about The Wedge, expect the unexpected. Disc-eating bushes on hole 3, and a super hidden disc trap in the form of serious thick bushes around the left side of the basket.

Oh, and keep in mind, there are lots of bushes and dense shrubbery here, so pay extra attention to where your disc lands, you don’t want to lose your precious gear in there.
